Here’s a tip to start your week: If a girl isn’t ticklish, don’t date her.

Why? Because when you tickle a girl, it tells you everything you need to know.

How? Pay close attention to her face when you start or make a move to tickle her. If she looks horrified, like there’s nothing that could be worse in the world, she’s not that into you.

But if she smiles, even just a little, as she protests and runs to the other side of the room, she’s absolutely and completely in love with you.

Today I had the unique opportunity to tour President George W. Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas. We were allowed to take pictures of the gorgeous wildflower prairie (above), but not near the main house. We did get to walk around it though, I even rolled a golf ball or two (with the Presidential seal printed on them) around the putting green in the front yard and saw the place where Jenna Bush got married. And sit out by the pool for a bit - the comfiest deck chairs I have ever sat in.

I read this poem for the first time a month ago. It’s stuck with me.

The Quiet World

In an effort to get people to look into each other’s eyes more, and also to appease the mutes, the government has decided to allot each person exactly one hundred and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear without saying hello. In the restaurant I point at chicken noodle soup. I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover, proudly say I only used fifty-nine today. I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn’t respond, I know she’s used up all her words, so I slowly whisper I love you thirty-two and a third times. After that, we just sit on the line and listen to each other breathe.

That many people squished into that little space makes my brain hurt.

Houston made me laugh. I really like that if the world were as dense as NYC, we could all live in Texas. Seems fitting.
